Start the New Year With an Eye Exam
What new year's resolution doesn't get mentioned enough? Getting an eye exam!
We're not going to pretend that our feelings aren't a little bit hurt by that. On the contrary, there's a solid case to be made for getting an eye exam regularly. If you are committed to becoming healthier and adopting better practices for your wellbeing and quality of life this year, it doesn't stop at watching your diet and adopting an exercise routine. It also means making doctor's appointments to ensure your eyes and other bodily parts function correctly.
Here are a few things you can expect to happen during your appointment.
Your Vision Will be Tested
During your routine eye exam, you will go through a series of simple tests that will evaluate the quality of your vision. Just like you see in the movies or TV shows, you'll be asked to read a sequence of letters from the Snellen eye chart, where the letters decrease in size. Each eye will also be tested to see how well you see with both of your eyes, and your ocular motility, depth perception, and a color blindness screening will also take place.
We'll Test You for Eye Diseases
Your pupils will be dilated with special eye drops that will allow us to examine the inside of your eye in greater detail. Once your eyes are dilated, we will use a slit lamp to perform retina scans and look inside your eyes to take pictures. These tests will help us identify potential eye diseases such as cataracts, retinopathy, and macular degeneration.
The fun doesn't stop there! We also will offer you non-contact tonometry to test glaucoma during your new year eye exam. In layman's terms, this is an air-puff test where the equipment can measure the pressure in your eye.
